My mother is one of the kindest, funniest and best all-around-wonderful people I know. She drops hilarious pearls of wisdom like an oyster caught in a sandstorm. So in honor of Mother’s Day, I’m resurrecting one of my favorite mom-inspired Facebook posts, circa 2012.
Random thoughts from my mother mid-conversation about how my day went…
Mom: You really need to watch your mouth. You might get in a bad habit and cuss at work.
Me: Why? What did I just say?
Mom: Nothing. I was just remembering how, when you were 3 years old, you used to come home from your dad’s construction site exclaiming: “Get that *@!&# thing plumb.”
Me: Oh. Okay. I’ll keep that in mind, mom.
Given that four months later I celebrated Merriam-Webster’s addition of f-bomb to its dictionary, her concerns about my adult vernacular were warranted.
Happy Mother’s Day, mom! Thank you for inspiring me, making me laugh, and keeping life interesting!
