Awkward Laughter

Because most things in life are humorous, even when they shouldn't be

About

“Awkward Laughter” is what happens when you let a klutzy freak magnet (that’s me) loose on the world and then give her a platform to write about it.

My love of telling tales about the kooky happenings of everyday life began pre-kindergaten:

“My mommy ran me over with her car.” – Me, age 4

I dropped that one liner on a random woman in the mall as my poor mother cringed nearby. (To be clear, she didn’t run me over intentionally.)
Terror at the Tate
My words transformed that stranger into a captive audience, and I was hooked. I’ve been sharing stories ever since.

I hope you’ll find more than a few of them entertaining and look forward to hearing from you. Cheers! – Kim

Who I Am
I’m a marketing and PR professional with former lives as a TV journalist, a computer consultant, and even an insurance auditor. Home is in Gainesville, Florida, (Go Gators!) but I’ve lived everywhere from Washington, DC, and Northern Maine to hotels across the U.S.

Why I Write
I’ve been a word nerd and wannabe novelist for as long as I can remember. I started this blog to become a more disciplined writer and because I truly believe that most things in life are humorous, even when they shouldn’t be.

I have nominated you for the Liebster award! I really enjoyed reading up on your posts, and felt you deserving of this award. The Liebster is for newbie bloggers (or bloggers with fewer than 200 followers) to help make them a little more well-known in the world of blogging. More information can be found here:

  4. I also nominated you for the Liebster Award. Please do not feel that you need to accept mine. Consider it a bonus award. http://atypicalamateur.com/2014/01/19/liebster-award/

  5. Hi Kim, nice to meet you, and to explore your blog, and laugh, awkwardly, at your tales 🙂
I know it’s been ages (no internet for a while) but thanks for the ‘like’ on the post about Bolivia. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Alison

    • Ha! I was so excited when I read you lived in Tampa. Strange how a state as large as Florida can feel like “the neighborhood” in blogging. I look forward to reading more of your blog too!

      • Ya, Kim! We’re not too far away from each other at all! =) Especially since WordPress is international, whenever I see someone is located in FL, I have to give a shout-out! ❤
