Sitting on my couch, a glass of my favorite Sauvignon Blanc in hand (and another one already in my belly), I clicked on my Facebook 2013 Year in Review for the second time.

A few weeks back I got the friendly notification from Facebook that my Year in Review was available. I happily clicked it remembering the fun I’d had reliving 2012. My expected joy quickly turned to horror.

There, rotating in Facebook’s photo montage, were a handful of images of some fun but not extremely exciting times in my life.

Overcoming Writer’s Blah

Why I Won’t Say “Nice to Meet You”

I have a problem. I don’t remember people.

To which you’re probably thinking, “I’m horrible at remembering names too.”

But, no, you don’t understand. I don’t remember people.

I meet them. Chat and laugh with them at length. Genuinely mean it when I say that I look forward to seeing them again. Then walk away and immediately eject their faces from my memory. Continue reading

An Exercise in Discipline

Ok. True confessions time. My motivation for creating this blog comes from the fact that I can be a slacker (not to be confused with being lazy, which I’m not…most days).

But I am undisciplined, sometimes, even about things that I profess to love. In this case, writing.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to “be a writer.” That began in 1st grade with my first, simple, published work, “All about Spring.”
